Louise Bagshawe: Vote for change on 6 May
6th April 2010
The election date is now set for Thursday 6 May. In Corby and East Northamptonshire the choice is clear - David Cameron’s candidate for change, Louise Bagshawe, or five more years of Gordon Brown.
Louise Bagshawe said:
“At last Gordon Brown has called a general election. The clock has run out on this tired and failing government, and finally the country has a chance to vote for change.
“Here in Corby and East Northamptonshire, we are on the frontline. Elections are not won in the safe seats but in the marginal seats like ours. Local people have an incredible opportunity to send a message to this government that enough is enough.”
Louise added:
“Northamptonshire deserves better than Labour’s county-wide underfunding, with money for our services being based on population levels from the 2001 census. Whatever Labour thinks, this is not “North Londonshire” and we need the funds to match our growth.
“Gordon Brown represents the status quo, and the Lib Dems not only can’t win at Westminster, they are nowhere in Corby and East Northamptonshire - bookies make them a 100-1 shot here.
“Only David Cameron and the Conservatives can deliver the change our country desperately needs. To stop Labour’s tax on jobs, to fix our economy, mend our broken society, restore local policing, protect the NHS, and tackle uncontrolled immigration.
“Up and down the country, Conservative candidates are fighting for change, and Corby and East Northamptonshire is going to be at the forefront of that fight.
“I’ve been campaigning locally for over three years. Today, I’ll be out delivering leaflets and talking to people in central Corby and Cottingham, and I can’t wait to get going.”
