Louise Bagshawe MP backs call for Corby cinema

10th August 2010

Louise Bagshawe has today backed plans for a multiplex cinema for Corby and the continued regeneration of the town centre following the news that original plans for £100m redevelopment of Corby were scrapped yesterday.

Commenting on the decision of town centre owners, Land Securities, to halt progress of the Evolution scheme - phase 2 of the Willow Place development - Louise Bagshawe said:
“It is disappointing that Land Securities is not going to follow through with the plans for Phase two of the Willow Place development. We mustn’t see this as a setback - I am as confident as ever that Corby offers unparalleled opportunities for a developer that has the vision and ideas to match the burning ambition of both the local council and people living in Corby.

“Corby’s growth and development over recent years is clear for all to see and I welcome the news that an application for a multiplex cinema is in the pipeline. In addition to the new swimming pool, the theatre and library at the new Corby Cube, and the new Willow Place, a multiplex cinema would be terrific news for Corby. I will work hard to support Corby Borough Council in their efforts to further transform Corby town centre.”
