Louise Bagshawe: “Give Northamptonshire a fairer deal!”
11th February 2010
Louise Bagshawe, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Corby and East Northants, has today reacted angrily to comments by Labour’s Minister for the East Midlands, that Northamptonshire County Council should “find the extra money needed” to fund a social care scheme proposed by the government.
Louise said:
“This is unbelievable. First the Labour government penalises the county council for careful management by diverting our county’s winter grit supply, now they have the cheek to force the council to stump up extra cash for an uncosted Labour policy.
“Labour is funding Northamptonshire on population figures from the 2001 census. Any local resident knows just how fast our population has grown!
“Which local services would the Minister like us to cut to pay for this? The NHS? Our schools? How about all the money we need to repair local roads?
“It’s about time this Labour government stopped calling on the county council to come up with extra cash, and started giving Northamptonshire a fairer deal.”
