Louise Bagshawe welcomes coalition government
13th May 2010
New Corby and East Northants MP, Louise Bagshawe, has welcomed the new coalition government as “a historic moment in British politics”.
"I'm very excited and happy. I think it is a historic moment in British politics.
"The public want the major parties to work together and we have got a lot in common with the Liberal Democrats.
"Everyone has got to sacrifice a bit but that is the nature of a coalition. We now have a strong and secure Government which can't be toppled by a couple of rebels.
"The business of the Government is going to be difficult. Deficit reduction is a really big issue and was the biggest issue on the doorsteps bar none.
"I really do think it will last. I think there is a lot of good will between the parties and I think the country will be willing us to succeed."
