Putting local residents first: Louise Bagshawe backs campaign against 1000 new houses
15th January 2010
Louise Bagshawe, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Corby and East Northants, has written to the Minister for the East Midlands, asking him to back Weldon residents in their opposition to plans for 1000 new houses.
Louise has pledged her support for local residents as they fight to stop the development.
The plans, which were given the go ahead by Labour and Lib Dem Councillors last week, would see up to 1000 houses built in the village, have been met with fierce opposition from local residents and Corby Conservatives.
The plans run contrary to the Weldon Parish Plan and would involve building on a greenfield site and have therefore been referred to the Government Office for the East Midlands.
Louise Bagshawe said:
“I have written an open letter to the Minister for the East Midlands today asking him to join me in supporting Weldon residents as they fight against these proposals. He is well placed to put the brakes on these plans which, if approved, will destroy a green field site and place added strain on our already-overstretched local infrastructure.
“I am fully behind local residents and will fight every step of the way on their behalf, but the ball is very much in the Minister’s court at the moment. I hope that he chooses to listen to the concerns of Weldon residents and puts a halt to the development going ahead.”
