Bagshawe welcomes decision on nuclear dump
16th March 2010
Louise Bagshawe, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Corby and East Northants, today welcomed the decision by Conservative-controlled Northamptonshire County Council to reject the nuclear waste dump proposed for King’s Cliffe.
Louise said:
“Speaking to county council colleagues about this, I have been overwhelmed by the determination to fight the Labour government and their relaxed planning laws.
“This decision may now go to appeal. It is frankly a disgrace that King’s Cliffe Labour MP refuses to take a stand on an issue of such vital importance to our area.
“At the public meeting in King’s Cliffe recently, he was the only major party candidate who point blank refused to attend.”
Louise continued:
“My position is absolutely clear. If elected, I will fight any appeal by the developers, and I’ll put the case to whoever is in power in Westminster. King’s Cliffe should not be ruined by this facility to which so many legitimate objections have been raised.
“An MP should be prepared to fight for their constituents.”
