Louise meets with Tata Steel representatives to discuss future of company
27th January 2012
Louise met with Tata Steel’s Head of Public Affairs Ian Goldsmith, in Westminster on Wednesday to discuss difficulties the firm were having in Corby.
As a former manager at the Corby plant, Ian was able to provide a candid update on the situation. It was confirmed on Wednesday that 110 jobs will be lost at Tata in Corby.
Louise has arranged a meeting with Leader of Corby Council Tom Beattie, Deputy Leader Mark Pengelly, and a Trade Union representative from Tata next week where they will be discussing the terms of the consultation between the company and its affected staff.
Louise said:
“It is clearly very disappointing that jobs are going to be lost at Tata. I am meeting with Corby Borough Council and Tata union representatives again next week, and we must now work closely with the company to discuss the best ways of mitigating against these redundancies.”
